(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 14, in Hanoi, the Military Recruitment Board of the Ministry of National Defense held an online conference to summarize the military recruitment work in 2018, deploy directions and tasks, and provide training on recruitment work in 2019.
The conference was attended by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Director of the General Political Department and representatives from all over the army. Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army chaired the conference.
At the Nghe An provincial bridge, there were leaders and officers working on military recruitment from 21 district, town and city Military Commands in the province. Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Commander - Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command chaired the conference.
Military recruitment plays an important role in supplementing high-quality cadres and officers for agencies and units of the entire army, contributing significantly to building a strong army to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period today.

At the conference, delegates unanimously assessed: Military recruitment in 2018 has completed its tasks well. All recruitment stages are in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Admission scores of military schools have increased compared to 2017. In particular, female candidates and ethnic minority candidates admitted to military universities have increased compared to 2017. Military academies and schools in 2018 continued to use the results of the national high school graduation exam for admission, and basically met the enrollment quota...
In addition to the achievements, the conference also pointed out the shortcomings that need to be overcome in the military recruitment work in 2018 such as: The recruitment file preparation work still has incorrect information; The health check-up work at the district, town and city levels in some places is not well implemented, and the Military schools still return successful candidates to their localities due to not meeting health standards; the recruitment officers in some localities have not entered the correct priority candidates' profiles; the military career guidance propaganda work of military schools and localities has not achieved high results; the rate of students achieving International and National Excellent Students entering Military schools is not high...

As a land with a tradition of studiousness, over the years, Nghe An province has been one of the localities in the country with many candidates passing the entrance exam to military schools. In 2018, the whole province had 20,370 candidates taking the entrance exam to universities and colleges inside and outside the military (accounting for 6.3% of the province's population); of which 2,108 candidates took the entrance exam to military schools (accounting for 11% of the total number of candidates in the province), and 496 candidates were admitted to universities and colleges in the military (accounting for 23.53% of the total number of candidates taking the military exam). Localities with many candidates passing the entrance exam to typical military schools include Do Luong district (with 76 candidates passing the entrance exam), Dien Chau (with 65 candidates passing the entrance exam), Vinh city (with 54 candidates passing the entrance exam), Thanh Chuong, Yen Thanh, Quynh Luu, etc.
Concluding the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong stated: “In 2019, the Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense, agencies, units, academies, and schools throughout the army will continue to strengthen propaganda and career counseling for soldiers and students, especially in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, focusing on specialized schools, selective classes, and ethnic boarding schools.
