(Baonghean.vn) - A bus assistant running the Vinh - Hai Duong route was suddenly beaten by a group of passengers and had to be hospitalized with a broken arm.

On February 16, Dien Chau District Police, Nghe An Province, are investigating a case in which a group of young men beat the driver and assistant and vandalized a passenger bus of Manh Ha bus company.

Previously, at around 8:15 p.m. on February 14, the Manh Ha passenger bus departed from Bac Vinh bus station, running on the Vinh - Hai Duong route.

Nearly an hour later, the bus reached the south of Bung bridge (in Dien Ky commune, Dien Chau district), where a group of three young men who had booked tickets in advance called to get on the bus.

While Pham Van Thao (born in 1986, from Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city), a bus assistant, was loading things into the trunk of the car, three young men rushed in, dragged the driver down, and beat him. At the same time, another group of young men nearby used iron pipes to beat Thao, the bus assistant, and smashed the car.

The incident left Mr. Thao with a broken arm and a head injury that required five stitches. The driver suffered injuries to his face and arm, and the driver’s side window was broken. At this point, the nearly 30 passengers on the bus were in a state of panic.

Upon receiving the news, Dien Chau District Police were present to handle the incident.

The sleeper bus continued its journey to Quang Xuong district (Thanh Hoa province) when a group of people waved it to stop and continued to assault the bus driver and passengers on the bus.

According to the owner of Manh Ha bus company, the Vinh - Hai Duong route was purchased by this bus company since June 2018, running 2 trips/day. Manh Ha bus company suspects that the cause of the incident stemmed from a business conflict with another bus company running the same route.
