(Baonghean.vn) - On February 17, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that terrorism has not been completely eliminated in the Middle East, despite the fact that some territories have been recaptured from terrorists.

Foreign Minister Al-Thani cited the reason as the roots of violence have not been completely eradicated and extremist ideology still exists in the region.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), Mr. Al-Thani stated: "There are some territories that have been liberated, but the Islamic State (IS) organization or terrorism has not been destroyed because the ideology still exists there. The terrorists are still there. The main cause of violence, of this crisis, has never been completely resolved."

According to Qatar's Foreign Minister, the fight against terrorism in the Middle East is also hampered by the fact that many countries are increasingly divided.

"We see increasing regional polarization, especially in the Middle East. And unfortunately this polarization is increasing diplomatically," Qatar's top diplomat stressed.

In addition, the Qatari Foreign Minister affirmed that Doha maintains goodwill for dialogue to resolve the crisis in relations with neighboring Gulf countries.

This statement was made in the context of Qatar still being embargoed both diplomatically and economically by three member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) including: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, along with Egypt since June 2017./.
