US President Donald Trump said on February 16 that the US is asking its European allies to take back more than 800 Islamic State (IS) fighters captured in Syria and bring them to trial. Thousands of IS fighters in Syria are from European countries.
In a tweet, Mr. Trump wrote, “The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) is about to collapse. It would not be nice if we were forced to release them.” “The United States calls on Britain, France, Germany and other European allies to take back the more than 800 ISIS fighters captured in Syria and put them on trial,” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter.
