German expert: “Russia is not a threat to NATO”
There are no indicators of a Russian threat to NATO, in particular to the Baltic states, - German experts note.
The "threat from Russia" frequently appears in statements by Western politicians, most notably politicians from the Baltic states and Poland.
Mr. Alexander Noy, a member of the German Parliament's Defense Committee, announced that a few months ago he conducted a large survey in the Government with the question: Does Russia threaten NATO countries or not? According to him, the answers he received were that there was no data on the existence of a threat from Russia.

"Neither the Baltic states, nor the Central European countries, nor Poland see any threat, they do not feel threatened," — said Mr. Noy.
Alexander Rahr, head of research projects at the German-Russian Forum, expressed a similar view.
According to him, while declaring support for Poland and the Baltic countries, performing certain functions to protect them, NATO members also need to tell them about the nonsense of statements about the "Russian threat".
"But we must always tell our friends: Statements like yours are nonsense, Russia does not want to threaten anyone and will not do it. But they do not want to understand it like that. That is the real problem," — Alexander Rahr commented.
