In an interview with Türkiye's Hurriyet Daily, Mr. Peskov stated: "Where are the US soldiers withdrawing to, will anyone replace them, who will they leave their weapons to, will the military presence continue? When they withdraw, the military presence will hardly end, but will continue in some way. All these questions are on the agenda, the leaders are talking about this issue. The general attitude is the same, there is no reason for optimism, instead there is anxiety. And this situation does not help to resolve the crisis in Syria and does not give hope of finding a solution."

Also in the interview, Mr. Peskov affirmed that any country with goodwill to save Syria from collapse must discuss with President Bashar al-Assad.

Mr. Peskov stated: "President Assad is the legitimate President of Syria, he is the leader of the country. You can like him or not. He has the people, armed forces and intelligence. If you want to be among the countries that want to save Syria's fate, you need to discuss with Mr. Assad."
