Coach Park will only reduce his workload at the end of the year, when the SEA Games and World Cup qualifiers take place close together.

"Coach Park Hang-seo asked for a reduction in workload. However, it is not true that he will only lead one team, either U22 or the national team, for the whole year as reported by the Korean media," the leader of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) shared withVnExpress."Next March, Coach Park Hang-seo will still lead the U22 team to compete in the U23 Asian qualifiers. Near the end of the year, he will reduce the workload by choosing a team when there are two tournaments taking place close together: the SEA Games for the U22 team and the World Cup qualifiers for the national team."

Coach Park Hang-seo said that the AFF Cup 2018 and Asian Cup 2019 took place so close together, leading to him being overloaded and passive in preparing for the two teams. Not wanting to repeat this in the future, Coach Park proposed to reduce the workload. Today, February 20, the Korean coach will meet with VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh to discuss this. According to the investigation ofVnExpress,Despite being "thirsty" for a SEA Games gold medal, VFF still wants to prioritize letting coach Park lead the national team at the end of the year.

"I will return to work on March 6, when the Vietnam U22 team gathers to prepare for the U23 Asian qualifiers. Some players have played for the national team, but others have not, so they need to be checked and selected. I expect to gather about 30 players," said coach Park Hang-seo.

In the U23 Asian qualifiers, Vietnam is in Group K with Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei. The matches will take place at My Dinh Stadium.

Coach Park Hang-seo’s contract includes a clause that stipulates that he will lead both the national team and the U23 youth team. However, the VFF is willing to reduce the workload for the Korean coach when the tournaments are back to back. And even if the workload is reduced, Coach Park’s salary will remain the same.
