Stars who dared to "turn on" their teachers on the field and the unexpected ending
Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is becoming the center of criticism when he dared to "turn on" coach Sarri for refusing to come off the field when the substitution signal was given... But the world's most expensive goalkeeper is not the first to do so.
Kepa's actions have made football fans in general and Chelsea fans in particular extremely indignant, especially at a time when The Blues are having internal turmoil due to poor results.
According to Vietnam Sports, in the past, there have been a number of cases where players refused to comply with the coach's orders, and in most of them, they suffered bitter consequences:
1. Tan Truong (U23 Malaysia 1-0 U23 Vietnam, SEA Games 2009)
After the Semi-final match where they defeated U23 Singapore 4-1, U23 Vietnam was considered the number one candidate for the 2009 SEA Games championship. However, in the Final match, in a situation where Xuan Hop and Tan Truong did not understand each other in the 85th minute, the ball slowly went into the net, causing us to suffer a 0-1 defeat and regrettably miss out on the SEA Games gold dream.
It is worth mentioning that before this goal, Tan Truong had suffered a shoulder injury and although he was signaled to be substituted, he still tried to play until the end of the match. In the end, disaster struck when the goalkeeper from the West could not keep a clean sheet for his team and had to watch Malaysia win the championship.
2. Nikola Kalinic (Croatia 2-0 Nigeria, World Cup 2018)
The reason for Kalinic's refusal to enter the field in the second half of the 2018 World Cup group stage match was because he felt dissatisfied with his role in the Croatian national team, and that made coach Zlako Dalic extremely angry.
He cited back pain as an excuse, but it clearly didn't get past the coaching staff. In the end, punishment came quickly as Kalinic was sent home, while the Chessboard Army continued their rise to the Final, where they lost 2-4 to France and finished runners-up.
3. Alvaro Pereira (Uruguay 2-1 England, World Cup 2014)
The clash between the Three Lions and the South American representatives five years ago was a big contrast in the fighting spirit of the players. While Fabio Capello's team played disjointedly and lacked cohesion, Uruguay showed their tenacity to win.
However, the most notable incident of the match was probably the injury of Alvaro Pereira. Despite being nearly unconscious on the pitch, he repeatedly refused the coaching staff's request to be substituted. Fortunately, in the end, this player still maintained his concentration until the end of the match.
4. Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea 0-0 Man City, Carabao Cup 2019)
In the final minutes of the Wembley clash, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was injured after blocking Sergio Aguero's shot. On the sidelines, coach Maurizio Sarri was preparing to bring on Willy Caballero as a substitute, but that's where the drama began.
The world's most expensive goalkeeper went crazy on the pitch because he didn't want to end the match like that. Kepa kept waving his hands and even showing frustration, despite Sarri's repeated requests for him to leave. In the end, the 23-year-old goalkeeper was the "winner".
Then, even though Kepa blocked Leroy Sane's shot, Chelsea still lost the penalty shootout with a score of 3-4!
