5 years in prison for drug addict with 2 previous convictions
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 26, Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Tran Van Roi, born in 1967, residing in Bich Thai hamlet, Nghia Thai commune (Tan Ky) for the crime of illegal possession of narcotics.
According to the indictment, at 7:00 a.m. on November 19, 2018, Roi was addicted to drugs so he took the bus from his home to Vinh to buy pink phien and crystal meth for use.
When arriving at the old Vinh bus station in Le Loi ward, Roi met an unknown man. Roi gave this man 1 million VND and received in return a plastic bag containing 10 pink pills and a bag containing crystal meth.
Roi took a bus home and used up 2 pink pills of meth. With the remaining 8 pills, Roi divided them into 3 packages: 1 package of 3 pills, 1 package of 4 pills, and 1 package of 1 pill mixed with a little crystal meth that Roi had crushed into powder.

At 1:20 p.m. on November 22, 2018, Roi went to Nghia Dong commune and rented a motel in Huong Lo (Hamlet 3) to use drugs. At 1:40 p.m. on the same day, the Tan Ky District Police working group conducted an administrative inspection of Huong Lo motel and discovered Roi illegally using drugs in room 205.
The working group drew up a record and sealed the four packages of drugs mentioned above, and brought Roi to the headquarters to work.
The forensic conclusion of the Criminal Techniques Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) showed that the white plastic packages seized from Tran Van Roi were drugs with a total weight of 1.88g.
Previously, Roi had two previous convictions for illegal possession of drugs with a total sentence of 66 months in prison, which he completed on April 28, 2017.
At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Roi to 5 years in prison.
