The school requires food to be prepared at home, but a group of 12th graders secretly brought a mini gas stove to cook in a competition to celebrate March 8.

Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hong (Principal of Nguyen Cong Tru High School, Go Vap) said that a 12th grade male student suffered burns and skin abrasions due to a mini gas tank exploding at school on March 2.

The school organized a cooking contest to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8, requiring groups of students to prepare food at home and bring it to school to decorate and display; it is absolutely forbidden to bring gas cylinders or stoves to school to prepare food.

However, the group of 12th graders did not comply and brought a mini gas stove. While preparing food, the gas tank suddenly exploded, injuring the male student standing closest.

Currently, the male student has recovered and is being cared for by his family at the hospital. "He apologized to his teachers and parents for his foolish actions. Through this incident, the school has also learned lessons in organizing similar competitions," said Ms. Hong.
