(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An has nearly 1,000 hectares of spring rice infected with rice blast disease. According to recommendations from experts, cloudy weather is a favorable condition for rice blast disease to spread widely.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc - Head of Nghe An Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection
An said: As of March 4, the whole province had nearly 1,000 hectares of spring rice in the districts of Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc, Vinh City, Do Luong, Yen Thanh, Quynh Luu, Nam Dan, Dien Chau, Tan Ky... infected with rice blast disease.

As recommended, when detecting the disease, local farmers are actively preventing leaf blast disease in spring rice. Some have bought pesticides to spray, effectively preventing the spread of the disease. Next, farmers keep the water level in the field stable at 3 - 5 cm, and do not apply nitrogen fertilizer to the rice.

Regarding the development of spring rice blast disease, Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc - Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection recommends: Cloudy weather is a favorable condition for the disease to develop strongly, especially in the rice fields that are sown and tillering. Therefore, farmers need to regularly visit the fields, apply balanced fertilizers, and maintain water in the fields properly; for sown fields, it is necessary to thin out the fields. When detecting leaf blast disease, it is necessary to use pesticides promptly.

How to prevent rice blast disease

Fertilize with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in a balanced manner, do not apply too much nitrogen, and do not concentrate nitrogen fertilization during periods when rice is susceptible to disease, such as the flowering period. When disease invades, keep the water level in the field 3-5 cm high; stop fertilizing with nitrogen, potassium, and stop spraying foliar fertilizers and growth stimulants of all kinds; spray pesticides promptly; when the disease stops developing, fertilize and care as usual.

Regularly visit the fields, when rice fields are found to be infected with blast disease, spray specific preventive drugs: Fuji - one 40 EC, dosage of 50 cc of medicine mixed with 30 liters of water and sprayed for 1 sao; Fuji - one 40WP, dosage of 50 grams of medicine mixed with 30 liters of water and sprayed for 1 sao; Kasai 21.2 WP, dosage of 50 grams of medicine mixed with 30 liters of water and sprayed for 1 sao; Filia 525 SE, dosage of 24 cc of medicine mixed with 20 liters of water and sprayed for 1 sao; Vista 72.5 WP, dosage of 30 - 40 grams of medicine mixed with 30 liters of water and sprayed for 1 sao.

Pay attention to the 4 right principles when spraying: right medicine, right time, right dosage and right way.
