Nghe An: Abandoned billion-dollar market, people spill out onto the streets to trade
(Baonghean.vn) - Although Rang market in Thanh Hung commune, Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An) has been newly built with a cost of 4.9 billion VND, it is abandoned. Meanwhile, people have turned National Highway 46B into a market place, causing traffic congestion.

The old Rang market in Thanh Hung commune (Thanh Chuong) is held 12 times a month in the mornings and traders spill out onto National Highway 46B to trade. Items such as meat, fish, vegetables, etc. are displayed along both sides of the road. Vehicles also stop and park in the middle of the road to buy goods, causing frequent traffic jams.
In contrast to the bustling market on National Highway 46B, only about 100m away, Rang market, although newly built, is spacious and clean but deserted.
According to research, the new Rang market in Thanh Hung commune was built in 2016 (invested by Thanh Hung commune People's Committee), the market is designed with an area of over 5,000 m2.2, has a market hall 150 m wide2The market was put into use in June 2018, serving the buying and selling needs of Thanh Hung, Thanh Tien, Thanh Van communes and Thuan Son (Do Luong); however, it is still not in operation.

Explaining why the new market has been completed but people are still holding the market on the street, Mr. Le Van Nghi - Chairman of Thanh Hung Commune People's Committee said: "We are currently choosing a good day for people to hold the market, and it is expected that in March we will mobilize people to hold the new market."
National Highway 46B to Do Luong and Thanh Chuong has a very high traffic volume. Therefore, if the encroachment on the roadside for trading is not resolved soon, it will easily lead to unpredictable consequences in terms of traffic accidents. Thanh Hung Commune needs to find a solution soon to bring people to the new market, avoiding the waste of construction works, while solving the traffic safety problem for people and vehicles passing through here.
