Army captain posts on social media, looking for student who dropped wallet

(Baonghean.vn) - After picking up a Lao student's wallet, Captain Nguyen Van Nhat contacted Vinh University and posted information on social media to find the person who lost it.

Early in the morning of March 8, Captain Nguyen Van Nhat, a military staff member at Guest Station T50 (Military Region General Staff), on his way to work, discovered two leather wallets on the edge of Bach Lieu Street, Ben Thuy Ward (near Vinh University).Picking up the wallet to check, Captain Nguyen Van Nhat found that both leather wallets contained Lao documents, Vinh University student cards, ATM cards and many bills from Laos, Thailand, Korea and Vietnam.

After completing the mission, Mr. Nhat immediately returned to his unit to report to the commander. The unit then contacted the Board of Directors of Vinh University to post the information on social networks as well as the school's website.

After a day, two students who lost their wallets, named Mi Keo Vong-Pen-Nha, in Xay district, Udom-Xay province and Muc Da Van-Suc Tha Vi Lay, in Boly Khan district, Boly Kham-Xay province, both students of the Faculty of Law, Vinh University contacted to ask for their wallets back. The school's board of directors and students went to Guest Station T50 to meet the unit commander and Mr. Nhat to hand over the wallets.

Captain Nguyen Van Nhat and the unit commander counted the money in the wallet and handed it over to Laotian students Mi and Vong - Pen - Nha candy.

After receiving back the full amount of money lost, nearly 10 million VND, along with documents in 2 leather wallets, student Mi Keo Vong - Pen - Nha could not hide his joy and emotion and shared: “We accidentally dropped our wallets and thought we had lost them. Honestly, that was the amount of money I had to live on for the whole month, along with many other important documents. Luckily, the Japanese “soldiers” picked them up and contacted us to return them. I thank the Japanese “soldiers” and the unit very much…”.

Talking about the beautiful action of Captain Nguyen Van Nhat, Captain Nguyen Huu Trung, Deputy Head of Guest Station T50 said: “Captain Nguyen Van Nhat used to work at the Military Region 4 Football Team and then transferred to the unit for nearly 8 years. Captain Nhat is always energetic, enthusiastic, responsible, creative in his work, actively participating in the unit's activities. In life, Captain Nhat is a simple, close, sociable person, trusted and loved by everyone…”.
