(Baonghean.vn) - This is a typical ritual of the Lam Giang river residents praying for favorable weather, full rivers of mussels and fish, and good crops.

Within the framework of the Thanh Liet Temple Festival in 2019, in Hung Lam commune, Hung Nguyen district, a fishing ceremony took place - a unique ritual of the people in the lower Lam River. The fishing ceremony began with a procession of the gods from Thanh Liet Temple to Lam River, passing through the green alluvial fields of spring peanuts.
The procession carried all the sacrificial objects and local specialties. In the procession, the worship hat - a rare relic of the temple - was respectfully brought back to the place of worship by the people.

The ancient boat - a symbol of fishermen in the Lam Giang river region, hundreds of years old, was also carried in the fishing ceremony.

Along with the procession, two dragon boats, each rowed by 12 young men and 12 young women, rowed and tapped rhythmically from the riverbank in front of the temple, also departed with the procession.

After the procession boarded a large boat, the procession went up the Lam River to Yen Xuan Bridge to hold the ceremony. In the photo: The palanquin carrying the National Historical Relic Certificate of Thanh Liet Temple is solemnly placed on the leading boat.
The fishing ceremony was solemnly held in the middle of Lam River on a large boat led by the village elders. A large number of locals and tourists attended the ceremony.
The fishing ceremony is one of the important highlights in Thanh Liet temple festival, so it is carefully prepared and attracts the attention of many people.
During the ceremony, two dragon boats will continuously swim around the ceremonial boats, rowing and singing excitedly.

After swimming upstream on Lam River to Phu Beach (near Yen Xuan Bridge) to perform the ceremony, the procession then goes downstream to the river junction where La River and Lam River meet, anchors the boat and holds a fishing prayer. The celebrant performs rituals to worship the water god, river god... typical of the river region. Legend has it that in this ceremony, there is also a ritual of carrying mussels and releasing mussels into the river, so the Thanh Liet Temple Festival has long been called the mussel procession ceremony.
