Not only has the employment rate increased, but the starting salary of vocational school students has also improved. In some industries and schools, this figure can even reach 10-15 million VND/month.
The rate of college and secondary school students having jobs this year reached 85%. This information was given at the Conference on Evaluation of Enrollment, Training, and Employment in 2018 and Tasks and Solutions for 2019 held on March 12 in Ninh Binh.
On behalf of the General Department of Vocational Education, Mr. Vu Xuan Hung - Director of the Department of Formal Education and Training - said that in 2018, after many years, the organization of enrollment and vocational education and training exceeded the planned target, showing signs of positive changes in the overall development of the system.
Specifically, as of December 2018, the country had 1,948 vocational training institutions, including 397 colleges, 519 secondary schools and 1,032 vocational training centers. The total number of students recruited was more than 2.2 thousand.
Of which, the enrollment of intermediate and college level is about 545,000 people, accounting for 24.7% of the total enrollment.
According to reports from 63 Departments of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, on average, in 2018, the rate of college and intermediate graduates having jobs immediately after graduation was about 85%. Of which, the rate at college level was 87%, and at intermediate level was 82%.In schools with a reputation for vocational training quality and good relationships with businesses, this rate is higher. In particular, 100% of graduates from Industrial College II, Hanoi College of Electromechanics, Vocational College No. 1, and Central College of Transport II have jobs.
In addition, the average starting salary of vocational education students has also improved. According to data from the departments, on average, college students receive a salary of 6 million VND/month after graduation. This figure for secondary school students is 5.5 million VND/month.
According to Mr. Vu Xuan Hung, some industries and professions have quite high salaries such as Inland Waterway Vehicle Control (7.5 million), Crane Operation (8 million), and even some professions at some schools, graduates have salaries up to 10-15 million VND/month.
