Thierry Mariani - President of the Association for Russian-French Dialogue believes that the European Union needs to impose sanctions on Ukraine because Kiev does not comply with the Minsk agreements.

“If we are talking about the need to impose some sanctions, they must be imposed on Ukraine, which is not complying with the Minsk agreements,” said politician Thierry Mariani, who said he was in Donetsk six months ago.

"We have reviewed the Minsk agreements to see what measures have been taken by the Ukrainian side and confirmed that Ukraine has not done anything," Mr. Mariani added.

According to the French politician, the Minsk agreement stipulates that the eastern part of Ukraine must be granted autonomy, but the Ukrainian parliament has not yet voted on it, nor has it even introduced any bill to vote on it. In addition, the Minsk agreement provides for political amnesty for Donetsk residents and the adoption of a new law on elections, but the Ukrainian parliament has not voted on any of these points.
