Nghe An destroyed 28 pigs infected with African swine fever
(Baonghean.vn) - From the time the epidemic broke out on March 10 to the end of March 19, Nghe An destroyed 28 pigs infected with swine fever in 2 communes of Quynh Luu district.
In Nghe An, from March 10 to March 19, 2019, African swine fever occurred in 3 households in 2 communes in Quynh Luu district, including: Quynh My has 2 households in hamlets 7 and 8 destroying 23 pigs (3 sows, 20 piglets). Up to now, 4 days have passed without any new cases. Quynh Hung commune has 1 household in hamlet 11, destroying 5 pigs (sows, 4 pigs).

The total number of pigs destroyed at 3 households in Quynh Luu district is 28 (4 sows, 20 piglets and 4 pigs).
Other localities in the province such as Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, Thai Hoa have sent samples of sick and dead pigs for monitoring and the results are all negative for African swine fever. However, localities have also been warned to take drastic and synchronous measures to prevent African swine fever.
The spread of African swine fever in recent days shows the alarming level of danger of the disease as well as the limitations in prevention and control work.
Authorities need to investigate the cause of African swine fever infection in pigs in order to warn people and strictly control the slaughter and consumption of pigs in epidemic areas.
According to statistics from the Department of Animal Health, as of March 19, African swine fever has appeared in 19 provinces and cities nationwide with 294 communes in 62 districts of Vietnam. Most of the African swine fever has swept the North with many provinces such as Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Dien Bien, Bac Kan, Lang Son... and most recently Thua Thien - Hue province. The functional agencies had to destroy 34,774 pigs.
