Earlier in early March, the Ministry of Industry and Trade informed about the expected adjustment of electricity prices at the end of this month. According to him, there are currently many factors affecting electricity prices. Such as the source structure, in recent years the load growth has been about 10% per year while the speed of implementing power generation projects has been slow and to have enough electricity for production and consumption, the electricity industry has been forced to mobilize high-priced sources such as gas, coal, and diesel.
"If all input costs are taken into account, this adjustment should be close to 10%, but balancing macro factors, we choose an increase of 8.36%," said a Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.
According to Decision 24 of the Prime Minister, electricity prices currently have many different frames and levels for each customer group.
Regarding the impact on growth and consumer price index, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the General Statistics Office calculated that an 8.36% increase in electricity price will reduce GDP by 0.22%, and the consumer price index (CPI) will increase by 0.29%.
