Being a land rich in tradition, located in the center of the district but purely agricultural, the starting point is not high. In recent years, the Party Committee and people of Dong Van have united, overcome difficulties, innovated, and created strong development steps.

Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, with the participation of the entire political system, and the joint efforts and consensus of the entire population, in the past 5 years, the commune has mobilized over 70 billion VND to invest in development in various fields.

Accordingly, the locality has invested in planning design and approval; gradually improved traffic and irrigation work; up to now, 70-100% of village and hamlet roads and communal roads have been paved with asphalt and concrete; promoted the application of scientific and technological advances in livestock production, changed crop structure, production methods, etc.

Thanks to that, the average income of people increased every year, from 30.7 million VND/person in 2017 to 32.9 million VND/person/year in 2018; the poverty rate decreased to 3.2%.

Along with economic development, the locality pays attention to developing the fields of culture, education, health; improving the spiritual life of the people. Up to now, the rate of cultural families in Dong Van has reached 87%, with 10 villages, 4 units, and 7 clans achieving cultural titles. Cultural institutions have been invested in and built, contributing to promoting cultural, artistic, and sports activities in the locality..

The education movement continues to maintain and develop. Currently, the commune has 2 primary and secondary schools that have met national standards.

By October 2018, Dong Van commune had completed 19/19 criteria for building New Rural Areas and was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee Chairman as a Commune meeting National New Rural Area standards in 2018.

Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district praised and acknowledged the achievements of the locality; at the same time, they hoped that the Party Committee and people of Dong Van would continue to inherit traditions, overcome difficulties, and soon build Dong Van into one of the model New Rural communes.
