(Baonghean.vn) - La Hoang Quy - a young man from Nghe An is urgently practicing for the important rounds of the Sao Mai 2019 competition in Ha Long city. PV had a quick talk with La Hoang Quy after the success of the last performance.
Born into a poor family, but with a gifted singing voice, Thai ethnic boy La Hoang Quy in Xieng Huong village (Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong) conquered the judges and the public with his own inner strength and determination.

How do you feel after the competition last night?
- I was really happy and felt lucky when my name was called as the contestant to continue. That feeling of excitement still remains until now. I was able to continue to the next round, all my efforts have paid off. I am really happy!
With the entry last week being "Homeland Island Song", how did you prepare mentally?
- With the work "Homeland Island Song" by the late musician Pham Dinh Sau, a very good work written about Bach Long Vy island, with such a difficult song, the performer must have good health, a good voice and a good feeling for the song to be able to sing this song "quality".
Because this song not only has to be done well in terms of technique but also has to be performed with the right spirit and simplicity. I have captured the spirit of the work and fully expressed my feelings and emotions for my homeland's sea and islands.

What do you hope to achieve if you continue to make it to the next round?
Luckily, I am a contestant who made it to the final round 2. I don't wish for anything more, I just wish for good health, a good singing voice and everyone to always support me. That would make me satisfied.
I myself will have to be more serious and meticulous in presenting my work and conveying the song to the audience in the most sincere way.
Which work did you enter in the next round? Why did you choose this work?
- In the second final night, I chose the work "Hanoi Epic Song" by musician Duong Cam.
This is also a difficult song. The reason I chose this song is because it is a new work, a new breath of chamber music.
Through this song, I want to convey chamber music with youthful energy. And I hope that my performance of this song will conquer the jury.
Competitive spirit is very important. Do you really believe you will win the Sao Mai contest this year?
- To me, reaching the national finals is already a success. I will have to do my best in my performance and try to convey all my feelings to the audience.
Music really makes my life better and more sublime. Up to now, after 8 years of studying and singing, I have learned a lot, especially with this competition, it has helped me gain more confidence in my career.
