Two US Air Force B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers conducted a flight over the East China Sea to participate in "coordinated training" operations with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.

The frequency of US bomber deployments in the East China Sea is also higher than 10 years ago. This is a mission that Washington asserts is “a move to comply with the regulations on freedom of navigation and the open policy of the Indo-Pacific region”. The two times two US B-52 bombers were present in the East Sea only 10 days apart.

“Flights from the Indo-Pacific and Europe demonstrate the US commitment to allies and partners through the global deployment of military forces,” said a statement from PACAF. “Strategic bomber operations also enhance readiness and provide essential training to address potential crises and challenges around the globe.”

The appearance of US bombers in the East China Sea and the South China Sea is also a warning from the US to China against Beijing's unreasonable claims of sovereignty over these two strategic seas.
