Venezuela's National Auditor General Elvis Amoroso said the decision was made under Article 105 of the Organic Law of the Auditor General, which allows sanctions to be imposed to remove public officials.
Mr. Amoroso added that the opposition leader Guaido did not provide information about his assets, but he had a spending record that did not match his personal income, such as expenses for domestic and international airfare and hotels.
The Venezuelan official also raised questions about whether Mr. Guaido had "concealed or falsified" figures in his asset declaration, which is mandatory for Venezuelan public officials, and failed to explain the origin of funds received from domestic and foreign organizations.
Meanwhile, the Venezuelan immigration data office also said that Mr. Guaido made a total of 91 trips abroad, costing more than 94,000 USD, but could not prove the origin of this money.
