Deputy Prime Minister directs handling of existing problems and obstacles at Ban Ve Hydropower project

(Baonghean.vn) - Taking care of the people is the guiding viewpoint of Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung at the meeting to discuss and resolve existing problems and difficulties in compensation, support and resettlement of the Ban Ve Hydropower project.

The meeting to discuss and resolve existing problems and difficulties in compensation, support and resettlement of the Ban Ve Hydropower Project was held by the Government Office on the morning of March 28, 2019, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.

Attending the meeting were representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Finance, Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment; Vietnam Electricity Group; Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and representatives of Tuong Duong and Thanh Chuong districts.

As a member attending the meeting, Mr. Kha Van Ot - Vice Chairman of Tuong Duong District People's Committee said that at the meeting, representing Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reported to the Deputy Prime Minister the long-standing problems and difficulties of the Ban Ve Hydropower Project and the difficulties of people in the resettlement area, especially after the floods in 2018.

Nghe An province proposed that the Government, central ministries, branches and Vietnam Electricity Group consider supporting investment in the construction of a number of memorial projects, rural markets, and stadiums for Thanh Son and Ngoc Lam communes of Thanh Chuong district; investing in the construction of a number of resettlement areas in Tuong Duong district; and at the same time handling the issue of compensation and support for land on the flooded area of ​​the Ban Ve Hydropower Project.

After hearing the report on the problems and difficulties in the Ban Ve Hydropower Project, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung's guiding viewpoint was very clear. That is, we must pay attention to take care of the people.

Regarding the issues of investment in building missing infrastructure in Ngoc Lam and Thanh Son communes and investment in building resettlement areas in Tuong Duong district, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung assigned the investor of Ban Ve Hydropower project and the Provincial People's Committee to coordinate to resolve them completely.

Regarding the handling of land issues on flood plains, the Deputy Prime Minister also directed the implementation of support for people through policies to support agricultural production development.

“The Government Office will soon announce the conclusion of the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung. However, with the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, the long-standing problems and obstacles at the Ban Ve Hydropower Project will be resolved completely…”, said Mr. Kha Van Ot, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tuong Duong District.
