A phone that was charging exploded, severely burning a 12-year-old boy.

According to his family, on the evening of April 1st, after dinner, 12-year-old Sung A Tuan was playing with a phone that was charging. When the phone exploded, Tuan cried out, and only then did his family realize what had happened. He was taken to a local medical facility for first aid before being transferred to Dien Bien General Hospital.

The doctor determined that Tuan had burns on both hands, his abdomen, left chest, and left side of his face. There was a tear in the left side of his chest that penetrated the diaphragm and down into his abdomen. The child was having difficulty breathing.

According to Dr. Quang Xuan Ngoc, from the Department of General Surgery and Orthopedics at Dien Bien General Hospital, the child suffered from mediastinal pneumothorax, left pleural effusion, and penetrating wounds to the chest, abdominal cavity, and diaphragm.

During the surgery, the doctors discovered that the patient's internal injuries were more severe than initially diagnosed; the perforation extended from the outside through the intercostal muscles into the pleura, through the diaphragm to the liver and gastric serosa.

After more than two hours, the emergency surgical team successfully treated the child.

This is the first victim of a phone explosion that Dien Bien General Hospital has received. "The patient is out of critical condition, but the pain and fear still linger in her mind," the doctor said.

Doctors advise that if a phone explodes while charging, you should quickly disconnect the power source, bandage the victim's wounds, and immediately transport them to a medical facility.
