The Russian leader also stressed that, despite sanctions from the West, Russia will still choose to develop the Arctic - a region that many countries, including the US and EU members, want to tear apart.
Mr. Putin also did not forget to recall that one of the reasons for Russia to endure additional sanctions was the investigation proving that Russia interfered in the US presidential election. The Russian leader described the allegations of collusion between Trump and Russia as absurd aimed at domestic public opinion and used for political infighting in the US.
Mr. Putin affirmed that he is ready to cooperate with any president elected by the American people. “We respect the choice of the American people, so whoever is elected president of the United States (in 2020), we are ready to cooperate with that person,” the Russian leader emphasized.
The Russian President also did not forget to emphasize that the two countries have good prospects for cooperation, but bilateral relations can only be improved after the internal political problems in the US are resolved properly. "We hope that when the situation normalizes, it will pave the way for bilateral cooperation in all areas, especially on terrorism, epidemics, the environment and disarmament. I think we are all interested in this issue. As long as the right conditions are provided in the US, we will cooperate," President Putin affirmed.
