The 5th locality in Nghe An has African swine fever

(Baonghean.vn) - Test results from the Veterinary Agency of Region III showed that the sample of sick pigs at Ms. Do Thi Tuyet's house in Block 20, Quy Hop town (Quy Hop district) was positive for African swine fever. This is the 5th locality in Nghe An to have African swine fever.

Previously, on April 8, at Ms. Do Thi Tuyet's family, there was a sick pig. She immediately reported it to the local authorities and veterinary agency.

Upon receiving the news, veterinary officers from Quy Hop district went to inspect the pigs. Clinical symptoms showed that the sick pigs had signs of external bleeding, high fever, lethargy... Test results on the afternoon of April 9 showed that the sick pigs at Ms. Tuyet's house were positive for African swine fever. The authorities proceeded to destroy the pigs according to the correct procedure, including 2 sows and 5 pigs.

Quy Hop district has a large pig herd of over 60,000 pigs. Immediately after the outbreak, the district directed localities to raise their proactive spirit in disease prevention, especially in localities in threatened and buffer zones. In addition to the amount of chemicals provided, the district is proposing that the province provide an additional 72 liters to strengthen epidemic control.

On the morning of April 10, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district issued urgent Document No. 520/QD-UBND on the announcement of African swine fever in Quy Hop town, Quy Hop district. At the same time, it announced the threatened epidemic area including the communes of Chau Dinh, Chau Quang, and Tho Hop.

In addition, Quy Hop district also suspended all pig transportation activities in the epidemic area and temporarily stopped slaughtering, buying and selling pigs and pig products in the epidemic area.

Thus, up to this point, 5 localities of Nghe An have had African swine fever: Quynh Luu, Tan Ky, Nam Dan, Do Luong and Quy Hop with 8 outbreaks, 161 pigs have been destroyed.

Quy Hop district has issued Decision No. 521/QD-UBND on establishing animal disease control checkpoints at traffic hubs in the district.

Accordingly, the district has established 3 epidemic control checkpoints including: The intersection of Chau Dinh overflow bridge to the town (section with National Highway 48D); The intersection between National Highway 48C and National Highway 48D; the border point between Quy Hop town and Tho Hop commune. Each checkpoint has at least 2 people on duty per shift, 24/24 hours until the district announces the end of the epidemic.
