"Today, letters will be sent to the foreign ministers of all countries about this action, warning them about the consequences of the dangerous and unprecedented action of the United States, as well as about the necessary position they must adopt in this matter," IRNA news agency wrote.
Foreign Minister Zarif added that he had sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council about "the illegality of the US action and its seriously mistaken policy in the region".
President Donald Trump previously announced that he would put Iran's IRGC on the list of foreign organizations that the United States considers to be terrorists.
Following the incident, referring to "the US's law against human rights violations, dangerous activities and terrorism in the region", Mr. Zarif called on Iran's National Security Council to propose recognizing the US Central Command (CENTCOM) as a terrorist organization.
