Exemplary cadres build the image and prestige of the Party.
Setting an example demonstrates “practice matches words”. Setting an example for cadres and party members is to build the image and prestige of the Party.
One of the measures for cadres and party members to fulfill their duties and responsibilities is to set an example at all times and in all places for subordinates and the masses.
“Setting an example” demonstrates “practice goes hand in hand with words”. Implementing this measure well will contribute to improving the Party’s leadership capacity, while effectively carrying out Party building and rectification in the current period.
Regulation No. 08 clearly states that, in order to fulfill the responsibility of setting an example, cadres and party members, first of all members of the Politburo, members of the Secretariat, members of the Central Executive Committee, must strictly comply with the Platform, Statutes, resolutions, etc. They must take the lead in fulfilling the responsibility of setting an example, must be strict with themselves and resolutely fight against negative phenomena, such as individualism, words not matching actions, bureaucracy, corruption, waste, authoritarianism, abuse of power, profiteering, etc.

“If you want to set an example, you have to say what you do. I only have one thing in mind, whatever I say, I have to do it properly. Thinking and acting put the common interest above all, from personnel work to the process of directing the implementation of tasks, especially having the mindset to make the overall development of the province better. My wish is that the Party must be strong, the government must act, saying what you do" - Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien said.
The role of cadres, party members and leaders in setting an example is to build the image and prestige of the Party. Therefore, in the process of leading the revolution, the Party always attaches special importance to training, educating, fostering and promoting the exemplary vanguard role of party members.
Party Central Committee member and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha emphasized that leaders must be exemplary, seriously train and strive so that subordinates can look up to, learn from and follow.

"As a party member and especially a leader, in order for our subordinates and those we need to gather and motivate them to follow, the leader himself must set an example. Each party member must be very serious, try to practice and strive to be an example for others to follow" - Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized.
The effectiveness of setting an example in leadership, especially in ideological work, is demonstrated through President Ho Chi Minh's advice: "A living example is worth more than a hundred propaganda speeches". The question is who sets an example for whom? President Ho Chi Minh said: "Taking the example of good people and good deeds to educate each other every day is one of the best ways to build the Party, build revolutionary organizations, build new people, and a new life".
Therefore, he required each cadre and party member not only to have the responsibility to cultivate themselves well, but also to set an example in work and lifestyle, at all times and in all places, always saying must go hand in hand with doing.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Ha, former Head of the Central Organizing Committee, affirmed: “President Ho Chi Minh himself emphasized that “Party members go first, the country follows”. A party member holding a high position has a greater influence. If a high-ranking official works well, he will create great motivation, have great influence and a strong influence, and a wide range of influence. On the contrary, if a high-ranking official is not good, it will clearly have a negative impact, influence and reputation of the party is very large”.

If we only state that each person takes care of their own work, and do it according to their perception without deep understanding, then setting an example is just a formality. Therefore, "setting an example - words must go hand in hand with actions". Setting an example first of all in terms of perception, ideology, theory, and revolutionary ideals. Setting an example in work, when assigned, do your best in leadership and management. In particular, setting an example in ethics and lifestyle, this is the clearest thing about the ethical standards in the Party, learning from Uncle Ho's ethics.
Former Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Hong Vinh said that it is necessary to emphasize the role of Party leaders, while strengthening Party inspection and supervision and people's supervision of setting an example.
“For me, I have to follow the motto of “say less, do more”, “say what you do”, if I do something, I have to do it resolutely and effectively. I think that setting an example must be specific. To be a pioneer like that, I have to be very receptive to listening to assessments of my strengths and weaknesses, especially my weaknesses, and not be arrogant. For my comrades, I have to be very respectful, honest, united, have a humane mindset and be tolerant of their mistakes and failures on the basis of Party regulations and statutes,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Vinh.
Setting an example demonstrates “practice goes hand in hand with words”. Setting an example for cadres and party members is to build the image and prestige of the Party. Each party member must be strict with himself and resolutely fight against manifestations of “term thinking”, localism, factionalism, etc. Setting an example must become a voluntary, regular activity and a cultural habit of each cadre and party member; raising the sense of responsibility, pioneering spirit, and exemplary behavior of cadres and party members, making an important contribution to building a clean and strong Party...
Setting a good example will certainly increase people's trust in the Party./.
