Pho Mon Pagoda (Vinh City) begins major renovation
(Baonghean.vn) - To meet the needs of religious activities, worship, and practice of monks, nuns, and Buddhists, Pho Mon Pagoda in Nghi Lien Commune, Vinh City has begun a major renovation.
On the morning of April 21, Pho Mon Pagoda held a foundation stone laying ceremony to start the major renovation program.

Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Thich Hanh Lac - Member of the Central Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac - Head of the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Permanent Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province, representatives of meditation monasteries, academies, pagodas, and many monks and nuns inside and outside the province.
Pho Mon Pagoda was built in the late 18th century. After many natural disasters and the devastation of war, more than 10 years ago, the pagoda only had ruins of the courtyards left.

In response to the wishes of local people, in 2010, the Provincial People's Committee approved the restoration of Pho Mon Pagoda. Then, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An Province appointed Venerable Thich Quang Bao as abbot.

Over the years, with the wish "a house with gold is not as good as a village with a pagoda", under the guidance of the abbot, Pho Mon pagoda has been constantly renovated.
However, to meet the needs of religious activities and practice of monks, nuns and Buddhists, Pho Mon Pagoda was once again extensively renovated, with the construction of the main hall and a number of other items such as the ancestral house, monks' house, lecture hall, dining hall, kitchen, guest house, orphanage, Tue Tinh Duong, Bat Nha, Tam Quan gate...
The estimated construction cost is billions of dong, all thanks to the donations of Buddhists near and far.
