Nghe An: Tornado and hail caused more than 50 houses to have their roofs blown off.
(Baonghean.vn) - Initially, authorities recorded that at least 50 houses had their roofs blown off after a hailstorm accompanied by a tornado lasting about 15 minutes in a mountainous commune of Nghe An.

At around 5 p.m. on April 21, in Chau Thon commune (Que Phong district), a hailstorm accompanied by a tornado lasted for more than 15 minutes. “The tornado was very strong, affecting most of the villages. Meanwhile, the falling hailstones were about 1cm in diameter,” Mr. Vi Van Chin - Chairman of Chau Thon Commune People’s Committee told Nghe An Newspaper reporter.

The tornado caused a series of trees to break and fall down. Meanwhile, many houses had their roofs blown off. By 7 p.m., 9 out of 13 villages in Chau Thon commune reported that their roofs were blown off by the tornado. Some of the people's livestock died due to panic and falling into the abyss.

“We are still going to each village to fix traffic due to fallen trees blocking the road and to record the damage. Currently, we have only been to 5 villages, but we have recorded over 50 houses with their roofs blown off,” said the Chairman of the Chau Thon Commune People’s Committee, adding that the authorities have not recorded any human damage.

However, although there are no complete statistics, this is the hailstorm and tornado that has caused the most damage to property in this locality so far.
