(Baonghean.vn) - Raw tea trees have been and are the main source of income for a part of farmers in Anh Son district. During these extremely hot days, many households are focusing on drought-proofing their tea trees.

Nguyen Thi Xuan’s family in Kim Tien village, Phuc Son commune has 1.5 hectares of raw tea. These days, facing the peak of the hot weather, Xuan has had to drill a well and install a pump to irrigate the tea garden.

Since installing the automatic irrigation system, her family's tea has grown better and is greener than in tea gardens that are not irrigated.

Last year, Mr. Le Nhu Hai's family in village 323, Dinh Son commune invested in an irrigation system for tea plants using 6 mobile sprinklers. This method was both labor-intensive and ineffective. During the hot season this year, he invested in a 360-degree sprinkler system with a large capacity at a cost of about 15 million VND.

With an area of 1.5 hectares, Mr. Hai used the sprinkler in just 1 day... Thanks to that, despite the hot weather, his family's tea still yielded a good harvest, reaching 4.5 - 5 tons/ha; each hectare earned 18 - 20 million VND/crop before deducting expenses.

Mr. Phan Van Hoi - Vice Chairman of Dinh Son Commune People's Committee said: To protect the newly planted tea area and ensure the good development of more than 100 hectares of tea business, this year, many households have invested in additional 360-degree irrigation nozzles. Currently, the whole commune has more than 30 tea-growing households implementing the drought-resistant irrigation model using this nozzle system.

Anh Son district currently has 1,800 hectares of raw tea. During this hot season, tea growers are trying to invest in irrigation systems so that the tea can grow well.
