The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has banned US airlines from flying over Venezuela due to "political instability and tensions". They must leave Venezuela within 48 hours, according to an FAA warning document published on the agency's website.

"All flights within the territory and over Venezuelan airspace at altitudes below 8,000 meters ... are prohibited until further notice due to the political instability and increased tensions in Venezuela, and therefore the potential for unintended risks to flights," the document reads.

In addition, it is known that persons present on the territory and in the airspace of Venezuela may leave the territory and airspace of Venezuela as quickly as possible within 48 hours of the announcement of this warning, if the pilot determines that the flight can be carried out safely.

It should be noted that the warning applies to all airlines registered in the United States.

Earlier, it was reported that two Spanish airlines, Air Europa and Iberia, had canceled their nearest flights to Caracas, and an Air France plane had changed course in mid-air.
