Severely degraded, An Ngai suspension bridge (Tan Ky) will be repaired this summer
(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the serious deterioration, An Ngai suspension bridge is expected to be repaired this summer, when the 2018-2019 school year ends because it is currently the daily commute route for hundreds of students and thousands of people.
An Ngai suspension bridge across Con river is 180m long, 2m wide, built in 2007. The bridge connects Tan An and Tan Huong communes (Tan Ky) and is considered the "gateway" for people from inner communes to the district center, but has been seriously degraded.

Every day, more than 500 students and nearly 1,000 people cross the bridge. Every time they cross the bridge, people are worried because the bridge surface has degraded, especially many sections have been damaged, posing a high risk of safety, especially during the rainy season.

On the bridge, many of the bridge planks are rotten, many of the iron braces have lost their fixing screws, so they bend upwards like blades, posing a danger to road users. Large wooden planks that have not been repaired for a long time have rotted and are about to fall off the bridge. The bridge railing system in some sections has been separated, losing its protective function for people and vehicles.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien in Xuan Huong hamlet, Huong Son commune (Tan Ky) often passes by this bridge and shares: "I pass by here every day. The load is heavy and the bridge is shaky, especially the railings are not secure in some places, very dangerous, the iron bars pop up like traps, many people who rarely pass by do not know how to avoid getting caught in the wheels and fall, luckily they are not killed."
Although Tan Ky district and Tan Huong and Tan An communes have repaired the bridge every year, because the bridge surface is paved with wooden horizontal and vertical bars that have been used for a long time and have rotted, the wooden bars often peel off and become damaged.
Chairman of Tan Ky District People's Committee, Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet said: Currently, the province has a plan to allocate capital to repair An Ngai bridge with an amount of 1.5 billion VND. The bridge will have its wooden surface replaced with an iron surface, and the beams and railings will be replaced. After students finish the 2018-2019 school year, we will implement the project.
