US not seeking war with Iran but ready to make 'appropriate response'
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the United States is not seeking war with Iran but is prepared to make an "appropriate response"

Specifically, Mr. Pompeo announced the dispatch of additional forces to the Middle East to protect US interests and security.
“We have taken the necessary steps to strengthen, as much as possible, our security in the region, in case Iran decides to harm United States interests in Iraq, Afghanistan or Yemen, or anywhere in the Middle East,” the head of the State Department told CNBC.
He stressed that the United States is not seeking war with Iran, but, if necessary, is ready to give an "appropriate response."
“We will not allow mistakes. Our goal is not war, but changing the behavior of the Iranian leadership,” the foreign minister replied.
According to him, Tehran's policy negatively affects the situation in the Middle East and the United States intends to change the position of the Iranian leadership by imposing sanctions.
At the same time, Mr. Pompeo stressed that Washington is ready for diplomatic negotiations with Iran.
