On the afternoon of May 23, the Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Committee had a working session with the Hoang Mai Town People's Committee according to the program to monitor the implementation of cultural and sports indicators in the province.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Hoang Mai town, when it was first established, the infrastructure in general and the local cultural and sports institutions in particular were still lacking and weak, especially at the commune level. At the block and hamlet level, there were 10 units without cultural houses and 25 units with cultural houses but they did not meet the requirements.

With the viewpoint of prioritizing the construction of cultural and sports institutions at the grassroots level to serve the people, in addition to the general mechanism of the province, the town has issued a series of separate support mechanisms in the construction of cultural and sports institutions at the commune level and the construction of cultural houses in blocks and hamlets, the renovation of the broadcasting system, etc.; associated with promoting socialization to increase investment resources.

Up to now, the town has 8/10 wards and communes and 129/132 blocks and hamlets meeting the standards for cultural and sports institutions; 3/10 communes and wards meeting the standards for new rural culture. The town has 200 standard volleyball courts; 17 artificial turf football fields, tennis courts, and multi-purpose gymnasiums.

However, although it has been established for 6 years, up to now, Hoang Mai town has not yet invested in building cultural and sports facilities at the city level, including stadiums, cultural houses, cultural centers, radio and television.

In residential areas, there are still 3 units without cultural houses or sports areas; 33 units without standard cultural and sports facilities.

Through the meeting, the monitoring delegation acknowledged the leadership's focus, direction and attention to dedicating resources to implementing the town's cultural and sports targets.

In addition, the members of the monitoring delegation also noted that the town needs to pay attention to reviewing and improving the quality of cultural titles, especially focusing on reviewing factors such as having a third child or more, violating the law, gambling, having serious crimes, etc. in the process of assessing and re-recognizing the title of cultural village.

On the other hand, the rate of agencies and units achieving cultural titles is still low, only reaching 15%; the town needs to pay more attention and direct more drastically.

In addition to building cultural and sports institutions and the quality of cultural titles, some members proposed that the town should focus on building a civilized urban lifestyle, creating a change in awareness, consciousness and action in each cadre and citizen; focusing on building a ward that meets urban civilization standards.

Along with investing in building cultural and sports institutions at all levels, it is important to promote the value of these institutions, contributing to raising the demand for cultural enjoyment and creating a movement for physical exercise and sports among all classes of people.

Currently, the town-level cultural and sports facility area has had its planning approved. The monitoring team recommends that the town pay attention to attracting resources for investment and implementation, and put it into use soon.
