From Ninh Binh to Nghe An to traffic drugs, young man sentenced to life in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - With 4 previous convictions and having just been released from prison, Vu Sy Hung continues to be in trouble with the law. This time, with 2 charges of illegal drug trafficking and possession, Hung received a life sentence.
On the morning of May 24, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of the defendants Vu Sy Hung (born in 1986), residing in Tam Diep City (Ninh Binh) for the crime of Illegal trading and possession of drugs, Pham Dinh Hien (born in 1992), residing in Yen Mo District (Ninh Binh) for the crime of Illegal trading of drugs and Nguyen Thi Trang (born in 1992), residing in Nga Son District (Thanh Hoa) for the crime of Failure to report a crime.

According to the case file, because they knew each other before, on November 18, 2018, Hung called Lang Tuan Anh to buy 1 kg of crystal meth and 5 packages of pink phien to sell for profit. The two sides agreed on a price of 6 million VND/1 package of pink phien and 18 million VND/100 grams of crystal meth.
The next day, Hung rented a self-driving car and asked Pham Dinh Hien to drive him to Nghe An to “get some stuff”. Hien understood and followed Hung to Nghe An to get drugs. Also on that trip was Nguyen Thi Trang - who had just met Hung 2 days before. Before leaving, Hung brought 4 grams of drugs to use.
That same evening, the three rented a motel in Quy Chau town. At around 11:30 p.m. on November 20, 2018, Lang Tuan Anh went to the motel that Hung's group was renting. There, the group took out drugs to use. Afterwards, Tuan Anh and Hung discussed buying drugs. Trang was sitting next to them so she knew what the two were talking about.
At 3am on November 21, the group moved to Que Phong district. Thinking that the homeowner knew him, Tuan Anh told Hien to drive around to distract them. After driving a long distance, Tuan Anh gave Hung 1kg of crystal meth and 5 packets of pink phien, in exchange Hung paid 200 million VND. After receiving the money, Tuan Anh got out of the car, and the rest continued their journey.
At 5:30 a.m. on November 21, when Hien drove to Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district, he was signaled to stop by the authorities. Afraid of being discovered, Hung rolled down the window and threw the plastic bag containing drugs onto the road. Unfortunately for the subjects, the drug bag hit a couple walking on the side of the road. The couple reported the incident to the traffic police on duty.
Immediately afterwards, the subjects were arrested along with evidence of 1,100 grams of Methamphetamine purchased from Tuan Anh and a quantity of Methamphetamine Hung brought along for use.

In court, the defendants admitted to the crimes as stated in the indictment. Hung said he was addicted to drugs and needed money to spend, so he traded drugs.
Hung has 4 previous convictions for the crimes of: Robbery, Theft, Intentional Infliction of Injury, Illegal Possession of Military Weapons. Defendant Trang has 1 previous conviction for Prostitution Brokerage.
With his dangerous behavior to society, the People's Court sentenced Vu Sy Hung to life in prison for the crime of Illegal drug trafficking, and 5 years in prison for the crime of Illegal drug possession. The total sentence that this defendant must receive is life in prison. The defendant Pham Dinh Hien was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crime of Illegal drug trafficking, and Nguyen Thi Trang was sentenced to 9 months in prison for the crime of not reporting a crime.
