Father in Nghe An prosecuted for allowing son without driver's license to cause fatal accident
(Baonghean.vn) - Letting his son drive a car without a driver's license and causing a fatal accident resulted in both father and son being prosecuted for two different crimes.
On May 27, 2019, the Investigation Police Agency of Ky Son District Police issued a Decision to prosecute the accused and an order prohibiting Thai Ba Cuong (born in 1968), residing in Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district, Nghe An province, for the crime of“Entrusting unqualified people to drive vehicles on roads”prescribed in Clause 01, Article 264 of the Penal Code.

Accordingly, at about 10:00 p.m. on April 27, 2019, Thai Ba Quoc (born in 1990), residing in Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district (son of Thai Ba Cuong) drove a car with license plate number 37B - 01252 in the direction of Muong Xen town (Ky Son) to Hoa Binh town (Tuong Duong). Quoc went to Khe Ty village, Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district and caused an accident that killed Lo Van Loc, residing in Huu Kiem commune, on the spot.
Through inspection, Quoc did not have a driver's license but still drove the vehicle causing the accident, so the Investigation Agency prosecuted him for the crime of "Violating regulations on driving vehicles participating in road traffic".
Further investigation determined that the car belonged to Mr. Thai Ba Cuong. Although he knew his son did not have a driver's license, Mr. Cuong still let his son drive the vehicle, leading to a serious accident.
Considering that Mr. Cuong's behavior is dangerous to society and has sufficient elements to constitute a crime, the Investigation Agency has initiated prosecution according to regulations.
