Building a team of Nghe An Oriental medicine doctors who are both dedicated and knowledgeable

(Baonghean.vn) - Building a team of Oriental medicine doctors who are "both dedicated and knowledgeable", each doctor is a person doing mass mobilization work to strengthen national solidarity, that is the goal that Nghe An Province Oriental Medicine Association is aiming for.

On the afternoon of May 30, Nghe An Province Oriental Medicine Association held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its founding (May 12, 1959 - May 12, 2019).

Attending the ceremony were People's Physician Tran Van Ban, Chairman of the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association; Professor, Doctor Pham Khanh, Director of the Department of Traditional Medicine, Ministry of Health; Doctor Dau Xuan Canh, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Traditional Medicine; representatives of Oriental Medicine Associations of provinces and cities.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee Le Minh Thong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Cao Thi Hien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors in the province.

Medical examination and treatment for 1 million people/year

On May 12, 1959, Nghe An Province Oriental Medicine Association was established under Decision 481/UBHC of Nghe An Provincial Administrative Committee. From 11 initial members operating mainly in Vinh town and surrounding areas, the province now has over 1,500 members operating in 21/21 districts, cities, town councils and 03 affiliated units.

Over the past 60 years, the Oriental Medicine Association has actively worked with the Nghe An health sector to implement the Party and State's policies on building communes and wards that meet national health standards; disease prevention, and health care for people.

Every year, members examine and treat more than 1 million people, of which 30-40% of patients are treated with non-drug methods such as acupuncture, acupressure massage, thread implantation...

The Provincial Association of Traditional Medicine has actively carried out humanitarian medical examination and treatment, providing free medicine to about 4,000 - 5,000 people/year. The total cost of medical examination, treatment and medicine is about 800 million VND - 1 billion VND.

Nghe An Oriental Medicine Association treats a number of difficult and chronic diseases with high efficiency using herbs such as: Bone and joint pain; paralysis of cranial nerves V, VII; spinal degeneration, disc herniation; hepatitis, cirrhosis; thrombophlebitis, venous thrombosis; venomous snake bites; supporting the treatment of gout, diabetes... Currently, the Association has inherited and collected nearly 5,000 good remedies, precious medicinal plants and printed them into books.

With outstanding achievements, Nghe An Provincial Oriental Medicine Association has been awarded 4 Labor Medals by the State; Certificates of Merit by the Government, Central Propaganda Department; Central Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations awarded many certificates of merit and excellent emulation flags.

Every doctor is a civil servant

Speaking at the ceremony, People's Physician Tran Van Ban, Chairman of the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association, praised and highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Nghe An Oriental Medicine Association. People's Physician Tran Van Ban requested the Nghe An Oriental Medicine Association to continue to effectively implement Directive 24 CT/TW dated July 4, 2008 of the Central Party Secretariat on "developing Vietnamese Oriental Medicine and the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association in the new situation"; building a team of Oriental medicine physicians "both dedicated and knowledgeable", each physician is a person doing mass mobilization work to strengthen the great national unity bloc.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Minh Thong expressed his wish that the Provincial Oriental Medicine Association would continue to strengthen its organization; inherit and apply well the quintessence of the province's Oriental medicine; focus on clinical research on effective treatment methods; do a good job of professional training, improving medical ethics, medical skills, and medical philosophy for members; focus on cultivating, preserving, and processing local medicinal resources to implement the motto "Nam Duoc Tri Nam Nhan".

At the ceremony, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 groups and 12 individuals of the Nghe An Oriental Medicine Association for their outstanding achievements in the work of building the association; and awarded the "For the cause of Oriental Medicine" medal to 18 members of the Nghe An Oriental Medicine Association.

The Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee presented a banner to Nghe An Provincial Oriental Medicine Association on the occasion of its 60th anniversary, the banner bears the words "Nghe An Provincial Oriental Medicine Association 60 years of establishment and growth 1959-2019"; awarded the title "Excellent Labor Collective" to Nghe An Provincial Oriental Medicine Association and presented 8 certificates of merit to 8 collectives and individuals with many outstanding achievements.
