Concerns
At the discussion, delegates reflected on the current situation of social network (SMB) use among union members and young people: There is still widespread friend-making on SMBs without considering the connection, which leads to being exploited by bad accounts. Many people, faced with an issue posted on SMBs, without verifying the content or understanding the matter, still comment and impose their own subjective thoughts, complicating the issue and spreading bad things.
There are social media accounts of youth union members that have not interacted well (to contribute to spreading good things) with official websites and social media accounts of their agencies; many people share and comment on content on social media without reading the posted content carefully, even commenting with uncultured words, creating opportunities for reactionary organizations and individuals to take advantage of them to sabotage the Party and the State.

Some opinions say that nowadays many people still spend too much time on social networks, affecting work efficiency as well as real-life interactions with the collective and with people around them. Besides, with the "attraction" of social networks, more and more people no longer maintain reading books, leading to the reading culture gradually fading away.
According to statistics from the Information and Communications Technology Organization (ITU), the average time a Vietnamese person spends on the internet is 7 hours per day. Vietnam ranks 16th in the world in terms of the number of internet users and 7th in terms of the number of Facebook users (58 million people).
Creating a culture of behavior when using social networks
To actively promote social networks in propaganda and orientation for youth union members, delegates focused on discussing and presenting good practices in creating a culture of behavior when using social networks; using social networks to exploit information for professional purposes...
Delegates attending the seminar also emphasized: first of all, each member and youth needs to equip themselves with scientific and correct methods of accessing information on the internet; have a critical attitude, and fight resolutely but soberly against false information.

Many delegates participating in the discussion proposed the need to promote the dissemination of the Law on Cyber Security to all classes of people; at the same time, strictly and promptly handle violations when using social networks. In addition, turning the advantages of social networks into a tool to propagate the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's laws. |
Many opinions also suggest that, on the basis of mastering and complying with the provisions of the Law on Cyber Security, each youth union member needs to turn his/her social networking page into an information channel, regularly disseminating official information. At the same time, proactively share articles about good examples, new models, and good practices of agencies, units, and localities in implementing patriotic emulation movements.
Each youth union member needs to be properly aware of his or her responsibility when participating in social networks to contribute to orienting public opinion, raising political awareness for himself or herself and those around him or her, especially in the current era of information explosion.
