Authorities have just dismantled a baby trafficking ring that stretched from the southern provinces to Hanoi, with the "consumption" channel extending to China.

Previously, the Criminal Police Team (Dong Da District Police) discovered that Nguyen Tran Lan Anh (born in 1999, from Binh Phuoc) had left a newborn baby in front of the house on Phuong Mai Street. Summoned to the police station, Lan Anh confessed that she often followed the "Adoption Association" on Facebook, in order to find newborn babies to carry out the act of trafficking.

From there, Lan Anh became acquainted with Ms. P. (born in 1991, residing in Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi), who was pregnant but had no means to raise the child. Lan Anh lied that she was infertile and wanted to adopt Ms. P.'s child and promised to take care of all the birth expenses as well as give her a sum of money after giving birth.

Lan Anh then discussed with her accomplice Huynh Thi Hong (born in 1989, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to find someone to buy Ms. P's child for 35 million VND. If the deal was successful, Lan Anh would pay Hong 2 million VND.

After Ms. P. gave birth, a conflict arose between Lan Anh and the mother regarding the cost. Lan Anh took Ms. P.'s baby out of the hospital and brought it to a motel on Phuong Mai Street to wait for Huynh Thi Hong's people to arrive.

Ms. P. called to ask for her child back, afraid that Ms. P.'s family would report her to the police, Lan Anh took the newborn baby and left it in front of the house on Phuong Mai street.

From the above incident, the Criminal Police Team - Dong Da District Police discovered and dismantled a newborn trafficking ring through Facebook groups, clarifying 9 other trafficking cases in many southern provinces and even to China.

Searching the homes of the subjects involved, the police continued to discover a number of newborn babies that the subjects had brought home to raise, waiting to be sold to the contacts who placed orders. Up to now, 6 subjects have been arrested by the police to investigate the act of "Trafficking in people under 16 years old".
