Nghe An young man spreads rumor that 24 people were electrocuted to death

He climbed to the top floor of an apartment building under construction, then filmed a video and "made up" that an electrical accident had occurred at a project that killed 24 people in the area.

Previously, information appeared on social networks about an apartment project under construction in Gia Lam district that had an electric shock incident that killed 24 people, causing public panic.

After receiving the information, Gia Lam District Police investigated and identified the person who posted the above information as Tran Van Thuoc (born in 1997, from Nghe An), currently a construction worker on a project in the district.

Thuoc was summoned to the police station after posting fake news on social media.

Accordingly, at around 11:00 a.m. on June 8, Thuoc went upstairs to the apartment building under construction, filmed the surrounding area, and "made up" that an electric shock incident had occurred at the project that killed 24 people and posted it on social media.

After being summoned at the police station, Thuoc initially confessed that he posted the information online because he heard it from someone else.

During the verification process, Gia Lam District Police said that there was no such incident as posted online. The police also asked the young man to remove the content and file a case for handling according to regulations.

Regarding the above incident, Colonel An Thanh Binh - Chief of Gia Lam District PoliceWarning to everyone not to spread false rumors on social networks for any purpose as it will affect individuals and groups.

"The unit will strictly handle according to the law any acts of spreading rumors that cause public confusion as above," Colonel Binh added.

The case is currently being handled according to regulations.
