Bui Van Chuc put a knife to the female pawnshop owner's neck and demanded her to give him a car and 500 million VND.

On June 9, the Bac Tu Liem District Police, Hanoi, announced that they were detaining Bui Van Chuc (nurse, 27 years old, from Hoa Binh) to investigate the act of robbery.

Chuc confessed that on June 1, he went to a pawn shop on Thuy Phuong Street in Dong Ngac Ward to pawn his motorbike for 25 million VND. Chuc spent the money on personal expenses and paid off all his debts.

On June 7, owing money and being asked about the motorbike by his family, Chuc came up with the idea of going to the pawn shop to steal the vehicle back.

Chuc brought a sharp knife, prepared a hat and mask to the pawn shop, but because there were many people, he waited until evening. At 7 p.m. the same day, seeing that there were only the mother and daughter eating in the shop, Chuc pretended to go in to redeem the motorbike.

He pretended to take money from her purse, then suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed the female shop owner, snatched the car keys and put them in his pocket. After that, he struggled with the female shop owner and her daughter, leaving all three injured.

The daughter ran outside to call for help and people gathered around. At that time, Chuc held a knife to the female homeowner’s neck, controlled her, and barricaded himself in the second floor bedroom.

When the police arrived, Chuc asked for a car and 500 million VND to be prepared so he could leave. He also continued to throw many things at the police force that wanted to approach.

A reconnaissance team secretly entered the house from the 4th floor, arrested Chuc, and rescued the hostages.
