In 1591, he led tens of thousands of troops to dig a river called "Mac River" in just one night and built many ramparts called "Nhat Da Thanh" in the Duyen Ha, Hau Tai, Thai Binh regions. In 1592, Thang Long fell, the Mac dynasty lost power, he changed his name to Hoang Dang Quang (later the ancestor of the Hoang Tran family - Hoang Tran Temple has been ranked as a National Historical Relic) and went into hiding in Chan Loc, Thanh Chuong, Nam Duong. Here he lived in seclusion, recruited people to establish villages, taught, practiced medicine, and farmed until the end of his life.
In the second year of Hoang Dinh (1602), he came to offer incense and witness the relocation of Nguyen Canh Hoan's tomb from Ru Nguoc, Thanh Chuong district to Ru Cam, Trang Son commune, Do Luong district. During their lifetime, although Mac Dang Luong and Nguyen Canh Hoan were on two different fronts, they respected each other's loyalty.
In 1604, Mac Dang Luong (Hoang Dang Quang) passed away at the age of 108. After his death, he and his wife were buried together at Ru Cat in Dai Hue mountain range. His title was: Le Dynasty Doctor, title of Quoc Cong, Mac Trieu Hoang General (Hoang Quan Cong) Deputy King, conferred the title of Thai Quoc Cong, conferred the title of Hien Cong Vuong, conferred the title of Minh Nghia Dai Vuong, promoted to Tien Do Temple (Tien Do Temple)...

His and his wife's grave was built at the foot of Dai Hue mountain in a rectangular shape, 4.25m long and 2.50m wide. In 1992, descendants of the five branches of the Hoang family moved the graves of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Dang Luong and Mai Thi Hue to the Hoang Tran cemetery in Hon Lua, Nam Son commune, Do Luong district for joint burial.
Over time, Tien Do temple no longer existed. It was not until 2014 that the local government of Dang Son commune and descendants of the Hoang Tran family rebuilt the Tien Do temple stele on the old land. Every year on the 16th day of the 6th lunar month, the local government solemnly organizes a memorial ceremony at this stele./.
