African swine fever continues to break out in many localities in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Information from the Veterinary Department of Region III shows that on June 15, there were 4 new outbreaks in 4 districts: Do Luong, Yen Thanh, Quynh Luu, Tan Ky.
The 14th commune in Yen Thanh has an epidemic.
The outbreak appeared in Phuc Thanh commune, at Mr. Tran Tho Van's household in hamlet 19, with 1 sow.

Mr. Tran The Thang - Party Secretary of Hamlet 19 said, on the evening of June 15, we received information about African swine fever outbreak at Mr. Tran Van Tho's farm. Following the direction of the commune, on the morning of June 16, the hamlet committee sent forces to spray chemicals in the barn areas in the hamlet; at the same time, they propagated on the loudspeaker to let people know that African swine fever had occurred in the area; forbade people from slaughtering pigs, throwing dead pigs into the environment, and when there were sick pigs, they had to report to the hamlet cadres.
On the morning of June 16, the authorities of Phuc Thanh commune and the Veterinary Department deployed solutions to prevent and control African swine fever: Spraying disinfectants at the outbreak in hamlet 19, sprinkling lime at households raising pigs, and setting up epidemic control checkpoints.

Mr. Nguyen Van Sang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Thanh commune said: The commune decided to set up 1 checkpoint on the road to Hau Thanh commune and 2 checkpoints in hamlet 19. It is worrying that currently in some hamlets, people reported that 19 pigs are sick, the Veterinary Department has taken samples and sent them for testing. If these samples are positive for African swine fever, Phuc Thanh will have many epidemic points, and epidemic prevention and control will be difficult.
Do Luong: Epidemic appeared in Xuan Son commune
On the morning of June 16, the Steering Committee for African Swine Fever Prevention and Control in Xuan Son Commune, Do Luong District convened an extraordinary meeting to propose measures to prevent and control the spread of the disease.
Previously, on the evening of June 14, the farming household of Mr. Nguyen Sy Hai in Hamlet 9, Xuan Son Commune (Do Luong) discovered that in the total herd of pigs, 1 sow and 4 piglets were sick, with high fever. By the morning of June 15, the sow and 4 piglets had died. The family reported to the Hamlet Chief and the Commune Veterinary. At the same time, they organized the burial and destruction of the sow weighing 79 kg and 4 piglets, each weighing 5 kg.

In the morning, the Do Luong District Veterinary Station came to collect samples and sent them to the Veterinary Department of Region III. After testing, on the evening of June 15, it was announced that the pig sample was positive for African swine fever.
On the morning of June 16, right after the meeting to deploy preventive measures, the Steering Committee for African Swine Fever Prevention and Control in Xuan Son Commune organized the destruction of the remaining 7 piglets in the herd of Mr. Nguyen Sy Hai's family.
Up to now, in Do Luong district, there are 4 communes with epidemics: Trung Son, Da Son, Nhan Son, Xuan Son.
Quynh Luu re-declared the epidemic in Quynh My commune.
This morning, the Quynh Luu District Veterinary Department destroyed pigs infected with African swine fever that had just reappeared in Quynh My commune.

Previously, on the evening of June 13, the Quynh Luu District Veterinary Station coordinated with the Quynh My Commune Veterinary Department to collect samples of a sick sow at Mr. Nguyen Van Trung's household in Hamlet 1, weighing 195 kg. After collecting the sample, the Veterinary Department mobilized forces to destroy the sick pig.
On the afternoon of June 15, the test results of the pigs at Mr. Trung's household were positive for African swine fever. On the morning of June 16, the District Veterinary Department coordinated with the authorities of Quynh My commune to destroy the remaining 250 kg sow in Mr. Trung's household's barn; at the same time, implementing disease prevention steps.

To control and prevent African swine fever, the commune proactively purchased 20 liters of chemicals and 3 tons of lime powder; set up 2 quarantine checkpoints right in hamlet 1, assigned forces to prepare supplies and chemicals at the checkpoints and assigned people to control vehicles passing through the area where African swine fever occurred.
Thus, exactly 2 months after Quynh Luu district announced the end of African swine fever in Quynh My commune on April 16, 2019, on June 16, 2019, this commune continued to discover an outbreak of African swine fever in hamlet 1.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district, as of June 16, there were 12 outbreaks of African swine fever in Quynh Luu district, including the communes of Quynh Bang, Quynh Luong, Quynh Van, Quynh Hong, Quynh Hau, Quynh Tan, Quynh Yen, Quynh Thanh, Quynh Thach, Quynh Hoa, Cau Giat town and Quynh My.
At the same time, Tan Ky district had a second outbreak in Nghia Binh commune. Thus, currently in Tan Ky district, there are 2 communes with African swine fever: Nghia Binh and Nghia Thai. Previously, in May, the district People's Committee announced the end of the epidemic in Nghia Dong commune.

African swine fever is having very complicated developments in the province, the number of sick pigs is increasing, especially in Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, Ky Son, Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh districts.
From March 13, 2019 to present, African swine fever has occurred in 1,118 households in 246 hamlets of 97 communes in 18 districts and towns in the province. The total number of infected pigs destroyed was 4,100, with a total weight of 179,439 kg.
There are 17 communes in 9 districts: Quynh Luu (2 communes), Hoang Mai (2 communes), Dien Chau (6 communes), Nghi Loc (2 communes), Do Luong, Tan Ky, Quy Hop, Thanh Chuong, Quy Chau that have announced the end of African swine fever.
