Promoting Japanese companies to invest in Nghe An agriculture sector

(Baonghean.vn) - Deputy Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Murooka affirmed that JICA will continue to connect and promote Japanese companies to invest in Vietnam in general and Nghe An in particular in investing in building food value chains in agriculture.

On the morning of June 19, the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the delegation of experts from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) who came to Nghe An to conduct a survey on strategic cooperation to expand international business of small and medium enterprises in the agricultural sector.

At the meeting, Mr. Murooka - Deputy Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam highly appreciated the results of the project "Technical cooperation on agricultural development planning in Nghe An". Accordingly, the project has created 12 models of food value chains, and has also established a master plan and an action plan for agricultural development in Nghe An.

The Deputy Chief Representative of JICA in Vietnam proposed that JICA will establish a survey team to collect data on agriculture in Nghe An to provide basic information to consider adjusting the "Medium and long-term vision in Vietnam-Japan agricultural cooperation (2015-2019)" and continue the activities of the agricultural market forum in Nghe An.

Through the investigation and survey, JICA will analyze the challenges and needs of Japanese companies (especially SMEs) in the Vietnamese agricultural sector and food value chain. In addition, JICA will also evaluate JICA's previous programs in the agricultural sector/agricultural food value chain, especially focusing on promoting investment from Japanese SMEs in Vietnam.

From there, it recommends future directions for JICA's various support programs in the agricultural sector, public-private partnership plans to increase investment of Japanese companies in Vietnam in general, Nghe An in particular, in the agricultural sector.

The survey is expected to take place from June 2019 to January 2020. Nghe An is one of five provinces nationwide selected by JICA for the survey.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong thanked JICA Vietnam for its sentiments and contributions to the development of Nghe An, especially in the agricultural sector.

At the same time, JICA hopes that in the coming time, it will continue to send experts to support Nghe An in the field of attracting investment and developing value chains in agriculture. At the same time, JICA will continue to connect and introduce Japanese enterprises to invest in the agricultural sector of Nghe An province.

The Provincial People's Committee is committed to creating all favorable conditions for the survey team to achieve the best results when working in Nghe An.
