(Baonghean.vn) - Blinded by the money they would receive if they found someone to take to China to get married, Kham and Ly actively searched for their "prey". Although the victim already had a family, due to the bank debt, she agreed to go to China to get married.

On the morning of June 21, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendants Luong Van Kham (born 1987), residing in Chieu Luu commune (Ky Son district) and Vi Thi Ly (born 1973), residing in Yen Na commune (Tuong Duong district) for the crime of "Human trafficking".

Kham's biological mother, Kha Thi Dan, is married and lives in China. In May 2014, Kham received a phone call from his mother asking him to find women to sell in China, with a salary of 40-50 million VND per transaction. Luong Van Kham agreed.

A few days later, Vi Thi Ly went to Kham's house to give money to thank Kham's mother for bringing Ly's mother from China to Vietnam. On the way, Ly happened to meet Ms. Lu Thi Q. (born in 1967), residing in Yen Na commune, Tuong Duong district. When she arrived at Kham's house, this man invited her to find someone to take her to China, with a salary of 10 - 20 million VND for each case. Ly accepted and then invited Ms. Q. to go to China to get married. Ly told Ms. Q "if you agree, you will receive 35 million VND and give a deadline of only 12 months to get married".

Faced with a bank debt, Q. agreed to go to China to get married to have money to pay off the debt. After "choosing a good day", Ly took Ms. Q. to Hoa Binh town and handed her over to Kham. Kham then took a bus to take Ms. Q. to Vinh city, then took a bus to Mong Cai (Quang Ninh) and crossed the border to China.

When they arrived in China, both were picked up by Kham's mother, who sold Q. to a disabled man for 25,000 yuan (about 75 million VND). Two days later, Q. called Kha Thi Dan (Kham's mother) to say she did not want to marry this man and asked to be taken back to Vietnam.

After picking up Ms. Q., Dan handed the victim over to two Vietnamese women (currently living in China). These two women sold Ms. Q. to a man born in 1967 in Hebei Province. This group of people then gave Q. 30 million VND to send to her family. The two defendants Luong Van Kham and Vi Thi Ly have not yet received the money as originally promised.

In June 2016, Ms. Lu Thi Q. fled back to Vietnam. In January 2019, the victim filed a complaint with the police.

In court, the defendants admitted to the crimes as stated in the indictment, expressed remorse, and asked for a lighter sentence. Speaking in court, the victim asked for a lighter sentence for the defendants.

Considering the case comprehensively, the People's Court sentenced Luong Van Kham to 5 years in prison and Vi Thi Ly to 4 years in prison for "Human trafficking".
