(Baonghean.vn) - For the first time in 23 years of participating in the Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth Football Tournament, Quy Hop Youth Football Team stepped up to the highest podium to receive the Championship Cup with Tan Ky Youth Football Team.

On the afternoon of June 21, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district held a meeting to commend the Quy Hop district children's football team for winning the 23rd Nghe An Newspaper Cup in 2019 for the first time.

The 23rd Youth - Children's Football Tournament of Nghe An Newspaper Cup 2019, taking place from June 11 to 17, 2019, gathered 32 participating teams with more than 400 athletes, including 20 children's teams and 12 youth teams competing in Vinh City.

The final match between Quy Hop Football Club and Tan Ky Football Club ended with a 1-1 draw after 2 regular periods, the two teams had to enter a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.

After 4 rounds of kicks, ND Quy Hop defeated ND Tan Ky with a score of 3-2. For the first time in 23 years of participating in the TN-ND Nghe An Newspaper Cup football tournament, ND Quy Hop stepped onto the highest podium to receive the Championship Cup.

At the meeting, 8 Quy Hop football players were awarded by Nghe An Newspaper for their achievements in both playing football and studying well; the Chairman of Quy Hop District People's Committee awarded 5 million VND to the team; and awarded Certificates of Merit to 14 individuals, including players and members of the team's coaching staff.
