The head of finance at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has resigned just six months after being elected to the hot seat.

Vice President Can Van Nghia resigned and received approval from VFF.

Last week, Mr. Can Van Nghia took sick leave and stayed home to recover. During this time, he submitted his resignation. Chairman Le Khanh Hai said that VFF is urgently looking for a replacement.

At the 8th VFF Congress held in December 2018, Mr. Can Van Nghia, after two rounds of voting, overcame his opponent Le Van Thanh to become the VFF Vice President in charge of finance. But that was also the time when he was under great pressure due to a tax scandal when he was still the director of the My Dinh National Sports Complex.

Recently, Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc - who holds the position of VFF Vice President in charge of finance in the 7th term - also attacked his successor. The owner of HAGL Club said that if he cannot provide salary for Coach Park Hang-seo, Mr. Nghia should resign.

In May, the Government Inspectorate announced its decision to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the management and use of land and public assets at the National Sports Complex under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh.Meanwhile, according to the recent conclusion of the State Audit, the My Dinh National Sports Complex signed a lease contract without written consent from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Finance; the short-term lease contracts have not been auctioned and the asset rental price has not been made public.
