(Baonghean.vn) - Reuniting with their loved ones 5 days after the accident at sea, 7 fishermen could not hold back their tears of happiness, mixed with sadness as their 9 fellow fishermen were still lying cold in the deep sea.

At 10:00 p.m. on July 2, rescue ship SAR 411 arrived at Cua Lo port (Cua Lo town, Nghe An) to bring home 7 lucky crew members who survived the collision of ship NA 95889 TS with cargo ship Pacific 01 in the waters south of Bach Long Vi (Hai Phong city).

Seven crew members were rescued and brought ashore, including: To Duy Thai (43 years old), Pham Huu Thanh (40 years old), Nguyen Van Cong (28 years old), Ho Khac Duc (24 years old), Dinh Trong Hau, Pham Huu Hoang and Truong Van Viet.

Before that, hundreds of relatives and friends of the 7 crew members from Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district hired cars to go to Cua Lo port to pick up their relatives. Although they knew the ship would not arrive at the port until 10 pm, many people gathered there from more than 8 pm.

Mrs. Ho Thi Huong (49 years old, resident of Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu) sat sadly alone, her eyes staring out to sea, waiting for the light of the ship entering the port. On that ship was her son, Mr. Ho Khac Duc, and 6 other crew members preparing to be taken home to their families.

“When I heard that you were coming back this afternoon, my heart was pounding, I just hoped that the ship would arrive at the port soon. This time when you come back, I am not sure if I will let you go fishing. I was so scared the first time,” Mrs. Huong said, covering her face and sobbing.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan - aunt of crew member Dinh Trong Hau (28 years old) said that in the past few days, she and the families of the other crew members were sitting on hot coals when they heard the news that the fishing boat had sunk. Every hour that passed, the family waited for information about the search for the fishermen and was overwhelmed with emotion when they heard that Hau and 8 other fishermen were lucky to survive.

Mr. Bui Quang Khanh - Chairman of the Fisheries Association of Tien Thuy Commune, Quynh Luu District said: "For generations, people of Tien Thuy Commune have been going out to sea to cling to the sea, but this is the most painful boat sinking accident. The weather in the sea area where the fishing boat sank has intensified into a storm. We feel like our hearts are broken and hope that the authorities and cargo ship owners will soon have a solution to dive to search for people and salvage the boat."

At 10 p.m. on February 7, SAR 411 ship of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Center brought 7 survivors of a fishing boat collision with a cargo ship to Cua Lo port. As soon as they saw the ship, everyone rushed out, crying and laughing.

After receiving a medical check-up from the military medical team and a gift from the SAR 411 representative, the 7 crew members began to walk from the deck to the port. Everyone rushed to hug each other as if they had been apart for many years.

The moment the 7 fishermen were reunited with their loved ones was emotional, mixed with the joy of reunion and sadness as the 9 missing fishermen had not yet been found.

"Returning to my wife, children and family is already a blessing because I am luckier than the others who were saved. My brothers are lying somewhere in the vast ocean, not knowing when they will return," fisherman Pham Huu Thanh choked.

The crew members were then taken by car to their hometown by their families, ending a five-day journey at sea with the authorities searching for the nine missing. Earlier, on the afternoon of June 30, the bodies of fisherman Nguyen Van Hoa and two other surviving fishermen were also returned to their hometown in Tien Thuy commune.

Since the afternoon of July 2, due to the influence of the tropical depression, the weather at sea has turned bad, so the search vehicles for the 9 missing crew members have entered a safe shelter and brought the surviving crew members back to the mainland. After the tropical depression passes, the search will continue.
