Fishing boat sinks at sea, 9 Nghe An crew members missing
(Baonghean.vn) - After discovering the fishing boat of fishermen in Quynh Luu (Nghe An) sank at sea, the rescue team saved 9 crew members and found 1 body; 9 fishermen are still missing.

According to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Center, on the morning of July 2, 3 divers were dispatched to the area where fishing boat NA 95889.TS had an accident to dive and search for 9 missing crew members.
Along with the team of divers, there were also 4 specialized ships at the scene: SAR 411, SAR 273, Pacific 01, HQ 636 and a number of fishing boats of fishermen. By the afternoon of July 2, the search had to be temporarily suspended due to the tropical depression affecting the coastal provinces of the North.
Divers dived and located the sunken ship, discovering a coil of fishing net covering the wreck. The net stretched from the surface to a depth of about 48 meters below the surface, preventing divers from entering the ship.
Faced with unusual weather developments, especially the tropical depression forming near the shore with strong winds of level 5,6, gusts of level 7, and rough seas, authorities have fixed the ship's mooring line to 3 round buoys floating on the sea surface to mark the location of the shipwreck, before requesting a return to the mainland for shelter.
Fishing boats were ordered to return to shore at noon today due to slow movement. By early afternoon, the authorities’ boats had moved to Cat Ba (Hai Phong) and Cua Lo (Nghe An).
It is expected that immediately after the tropical depression dissipates, search and rescue vehicles will return to the location of the sunken fishing boat to continue work and salvage the wreck.
Previously, at 1:00 p.m. on June 28, a Nghe An fishing boat was fishing in the waters off the Gulf of Tonkin, 34 nautical miles from Bach Long Vi Island (Hai Phong) when it collided with the cargo ship Pacific 01. The fishing boat sank and 19 crew members fell into the sea. At this time, the Pacific 01 stopped and launched a boat to rescue 9 fishermen.
A day later, authorities found the body of one crew member and nine other crew members are still missing.
